The Akashic Records was how we used to call this in the past, because our understanding then was that it would be a lot like a huge library that records all that ever was, down to the most minute detail. But over the years the essence of this concept has changed. As I understand it now, it is more of an indistinguishable aspect of the totality of our existence, a field of some undiscovered energy entangled with theelectric and magnetic fields we are familiar with.
It may also be a field of information rather than energy, that among other things informs the two strands of DNA during conception, in order to form the new being in a specific way. Perhaps that is "the Soul" which inhabits the human at birth.
The acrosstic for this word came out surprisingly easy. And it perfectly characterizes the essence of Akasha. So maybe that informational field is here in more ways than inhabiting living beings...
