Quite often I just write these acrosstics down, simply based on intuition. But perhaps I should be rereading them and following my own advice as well. And yes, when something is considered bad, building another design is definitely the way to go. But far too long manufacturing and design of consumer goods has been done on a philosophy of "it should work until the warranty runs out". Add to that consumers urge to buy new stuff once something fails, and we have a failing society.
I guess if I had no more need to work for a living, I'd still be running a workshop that takes the Repair Cafe idea to a whole new level: having proper tools for repair and rebuild, and of course also creating courses to help the youths of today to work with all kinds of tools, and repair all kinds of technology.
