You can consider life a cage, or you can consider it unbounded, and in either case you will indeed experience it as that. But bounded or boundless, you are inexplicably tied to certain reference points that form the base of your view on life.
And synchronicity strikes again: I am watching the next episode of Stargate SG-1 on the side, which brings in the race called the Ori. They teach enlightenment, but only along the path they teach, all others are called unbelievers and should be exterminated. Now THAT is definitely a cage!
