Some call it a multiple universe theory, that has us splitting reality over and over again with each of our decisions, but what if it is more a matter of dimensions? Maybe we could instead look at it as a conversion from one coordinate set to another, which is more suitable for the actions we want to deploy.
For instance, a radar system will at first use a coordinate system that is relative to the position of the antenna, simply because the calculations made that way are simpler and cost less compute power to resolve. But the information needed by the users is useless in that coordinate system. So a conversion is made to transform it into a coordinate system that relates to the platform the radar is on. This also can then include a step where the movement of the platform can be taken into account, so the final coordinate set becomes one fixed to the earth surface.
Point is, every coordinate set has a reference point, just like everyone's view on life has a reference point, usually called the observer. But we each build our own coordinate transformations to determine what we see outside...
