I'm spending my day off during this Christmas vacation listening to Dr. Iain McGilchrist, who does not agree with a concept I always thought to be true: That Consciousness emerges from Complexity. I always thought it did, but while listening to him I came to a new realization. I always discern between reality and Reality, where reality is what most people think is that concept, whereas Reality is the True concept that it really is!
But while listening to him, I suddenly realized that any concept can be disected like this: the non-capitalized concept is what we "normally" think it is, whereas the capitalized version of the concept is what it really is. And this is not a dichotomy: it is a spectrum from total delusion to absolute truth. This is like the Venn diagram of eight billion people's ideas on a given concept, where the tiny part they all agree on is way smaller than the total variation of beliefs all of us humans have about it.
Perhaps this is what it means to be in Base Reality: we as a people may not be there yet, and as such we are in "a simulation". But we have this huge collection of concepts, and for each of them we cooperatively are moving towards the truth, by continued communication and discussion.
