Welcome to the machine, they always say, but I feel it is more than that. A machine has a purpose, and the parts of the machine may feel like they are not in agreement with that purpose, but they are at the same time indispensable and valuable contributors to that purpose.
An engine is more specific: it drives a machine, which in turn then fulfills another purpose. And over time the engines and machines evolve, at first driven by us humans, but at some point also by other machines.
And now we have even come to the point where the new designs for engines and machines are no longer made by human minds, but artificial intelligence is starting to contribute new insights into what improvements can be made...
