If we need to follow anyone's advice on engineering, it must be Elon Musk's. The things he stands for are not specifically his inventions, but as he has a big following, his words do carry more weight among those who don't just hate him without knowing enough about what he does.
Elon advises to skip any meetings where you cannot contribute useful information, especially the big ones. He also prefers common sense and logic over following rules, so it must be a pleasure to work for one of his companies. Unfortunately I am in the Netherlands, so that won't likely happen...
