A mass which has no forces acting on it is said to go on in a straight line, according to physics. But gravity is always there, and thus no object ever goes in a straight line. But that is not just about space, but time as well. Even we humans normally don't go in straight lines, because we live our lives in cycles.
Daily cycles, weekly cycles, monthly cycles, etc. But also our life patterns are returning again and again, until we either accept them or change them. And in doing so, we start to go forward rather than going in circles.
