A fellow Dutchman made lattices famous through his art. His name was Escher, and he was a master of weird perspective and transformations of lattices where for instance salamanders faded into birds, or his own spherical self portrait.
But I also envision another type of lattice: where cymatics are most well known for the beautiful patterns sounds make in small particles on a plate, it is not hard to imagine that sound could do the same in three dimensions. You may have seen the small water droplets suspended in the air because of a sound frequency being played. Could it be that matter itself is similar? That electric and magnetic fields are not orthogonally polarized, but instead form a spiraling path? There has also been talk of EM waves that are more like sound waves, enabling it to create solid patterns.
