I don't much care for literal mirrors, never did. But I know quite well that what is in my mind is a perfect mirror of the reality outside, or at least I am trying to make it as perfect as I can. Of course I will always be lagging behind because there is lots I don't know yet, but for the sake of my children I try to be the guy who usually has a reasonable answer. But is that really needed? As a software engineer I can save all my programs and knowledge for my grandson, but by the time he finds the CD that holds all my GIT repos, he will probably wonder: "What do I need to play this?"
And maybe it isn't so much about what we can teach our kids, as much as us allowing them to discover it all for themselves. By the time my grandson becomes an adult, the five thousand days will have passed, and our world won't even look like what it does now. We will probably finally get to the point where becoming better than ourselves is more important than getting the better of others...
