With the one percent we usually mean that small group that has succeeded in acquiring more wealth than the other 99 percent combined, and many think they therefor need to be the subject of hate. I see this somewhat differently, as the huge companies are not evil perse, just less scrupulous towards the general public than towards their stockholders who actually have a stake in the company. Elon Musk seems to be one of the few ultrarich who do not place wealth before humanity and humans.
And so, perhaps this kind of behavior will show the other one percenters that helping humanity requires a far wider view than just Earth. Let's hope they realize in time.
