there is value in everything, as long as you see it that way: you may prefer newly bought consumer goods, but there are many who value Nature more, and thus consciously choose to use second hand articles, or even third hand...
Similar value can be found in for instance the space industry: where NASA builds rockets for one-off use, SpaceX is able to cut launch costs dramatically by aiming for full reuse of all rocket components: this is literally a 1000 to 1 cost reduction.
And I just got the new job I value most: instead of an alternative in the maritime defense industry, I get to work on software which help make people's lives better!
