This is a very nice example of how friendly competition drives technological development: from the computers mechanical mouse in a maze made by Claude Shannon came the idea that a competition could be held, and here the entire history of the MicroMouse competition is shown, including all the innovations that came from it.
It shows how often, milliseconds advantages come from innovative new applications of engineering principles, like for instance using little fans to suck the mouse to the floor of the maze. It also teaches us a few aspects of navigating a maze, and how to do it faster...
