. When my Mum and I watched it, she commented that it was the very same type of machine that she learned to sew with. Of course she never knew about the inner mechanisms of it, but as an engineer I can fully appreciate the beauty of this restoration.
What Mum did notice about the machine is that the basic parts have not changed over the last decades: the movements are the same, the spool is now round instead of pill-shaped like the old spools in looms, but the essentials of the mechanism have hardly changed...
