"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". So it is, but observation goes way beyond the five senses. It is mostly a subjective matter, a set of preferences spanning physical appearance, general behavior, body language, simplicity.
A manner of dealing with them in a positive way, is not to score preferences on a scale of minus infinity to infinity, with neutral being zero. Instead, see each preference as a value of zero to infinity, with one being neutral value, infinity being itself, and zero being an absolute veto. This makes it easier to calculate a total preference: merely calculate the product of all values, rather than taking the average of them, which requires adding, counting and dividing: instead we only multiply!
