Not everyone may have heard yet about Neural Lace, but that is mainly because it is a concept on the edge of technology: Elon Musk has a company performing the research that will make this the high bandwidth connection of man towards machine, because he claims that our interface to the computers is far too slow to keep up with the future speed of artificial intelligence and other computing technologies.
And he is right of course: even assisted by word completion, and even computers learning to listen, the bandwidth from human to machine is still far less than that of machine towards human. Visual and auditory perception and the various mixes of virtual, augmented and immersive reality far outperform typing and speaking. Unless of course we learn some kind of shorthand that allows for far higher density in our language.
