It is being made way too easy for people to overextend themselves in this world of fast cash and even faster consumption. Nowadays that last word is associated with buying, but earlier in human history it was in fact a literal disease, that was quite detrimental to the humans suffering from it. That disease has been largely extinguished, but consumption is still something that the members of society are being told to believe in, and many obey that command.
I used to be one of them, but over the last few years, I've come to see things differently mostly because my Mum of 90 is living in with me. We are fine, and don't need much, so why dive into every advertisement that tries to sell us stuff we likely don't need? At least that stance has made it possible for me to wipe out my last loan, which made life much more relaxed!
