Life's desire is to always become more. Growth is the essential force of life, a tendency of becoming longer lasting order by consuming less ordered organisms. This is why plant life feeds on light and nutrients, animals feed on plants, and humans and their organisations feed on anything they consider to be less alive than they are. This is also why there is a distinct tendency for companies to grow by assimilating smaller organizations.
But at the same time, the "organism" of humanity is the largest organization of them all, and I feel no corporation will ever be capable of totally assimilating humanity, at least not without keeping us truly alive. Just liken it to the human body: unless we as humans take car of our bodies, one or more organs are going to function less optimally, and that might lead to health hazards of death.
