Time is a weird construct, as it has not always existed the way we define it now. In ancient times people weren't aware of time, but they were aware of changes and rhythms in the environment they dwelled in. Once we defined time, we got stuck between the rock of the past and the hard place of the future as I always say.
In modern times, most of humanity still sees time as linear, but it really isn't. Life moves in cycles, and even though modern society seems to have forgotten the rhythms of nature our ancestors lived by, our lives still move largely in cycles as the days go by, and we get caught in day-to-day work, weekends to restore our weakened energy, and months that are shallow echoes of what they used to be.
