The two Avatar movies (not counting the Last Airbender) are a pair of must-see stories if you think you know how reality operates. Like cloud_atlas and the matrix series they will turn your mind inside out. It clearly portrays the tension between the two opposing world views of the Navii and the ruthless land-grabbing military style humans going after the Unobtanium.
Even that name is a hint, and the scientists switching sides to the Navii turns the story into an interesting relationship. Enjoy it, or ignore it, but I warn you: if you watch it, your mind will be stretched beyond its former dimensions!
