Probably the most well-known hologram is Princess Leah from the first Star Wars movie, pleading for help. In my youth I once saw an exposition of real holographic technology, and those taught me a few cool facts:
It is possible to cut a holographic film into pieces, but shining a light on it will ALWAYS reproduce the entire image. This basically means all the information is still in there.
This also has implications for science and reality: nowadays the idea of a holographic universe is gaining more and more traction.
