In this teardown Dave tackles a mail bag item sent to him. Unfortunately he immediately labeled it a a teardown condidate, without checking the Internet first: the device still goes for like 11 thousand dollars in used condition. Had he known beforehand, then it might have been a repair video instead!
Still, the video is useful, as it points out just why this "bit of kit" is worth the money: It's over-engineered in every single aspect, and shows a lot of engineering principles. It also mentions specifically themicro-mirror array that's in there, a tiny part which enables 4K video and costs over 3000 dollars.
I bet you Dave tore it down further than shown, and kept the useful parts for other repairs and trading in the used parts market...
