We all have this radar for the truth, but there are so many truths that are simply different perspectives on the same concept or situation, that it is difficult for many people to see how other people's truths align with what they believe is true.
And so the development of mankind gets slowed to a crawl because those who speak their truths too soon get ridiculed and ignored, even though they may well be right. What's left for them to either keep fighting against the storm of disbelief, or try to reword their teachings to fit the "less" evolved views they are trying to change. And of course there is a third option: trust in the correctness of your view, and notice how over time more and more people start seeing it that way...
