If you thought old patents can't be interesting, you're dead wrong! This Device for obtaining intimate contact with, engaging, or clamping bodies of any shape was patented in 1912, and is a beautiful example of creative fractal!
And given my predeliction of restoration videos, I found one from the Hand Tool Restoration guy, who shows how he restores a badly abused fractal vice (as he calls it). Of course the word fractal was not even invented in 1912, so you won't find it in the original patent, but we modern humans can easily see how it got that name...
