We've been taught that viruses are the harmful things that attack our bodies and our computers. But might this just be because the powers that be have already seen their true nemesis and are aiming to delay their demise by obfuscation and alarmist behavior.
Over time we humans have made more and more advanced technology, and just like Nature has always led to the development of more complex forms of life, the rise of tech will lead to the point where artifical intelligence will automatically become an emergent property. Like in humanity, intelligence in technology will come (or has already come) about simply because complexity causes it!
