noise is not just the absence of silence, but also the presence of random irrelevant sound frequencies. Even events in the external world that are not seemingly relevant to our current situation are sometimes called noise.
But to the subconscious there is no such thing as noise: instead, it picks up everything, even if we don't focus on it, and weaves it into the web of neurons and their connections to form pathways we use to determine how to handle the outside world.
