Being a guy linving in an area where high speed Internet has been available for years now, I don't really need StarLink. But I am still considering getting it as a backup for when the normal connections suddenly die, which given the international chaos and the likelihood of World War III is maybe just a smart thing to do.
One added reason for doing so is to support the companies that make us humans have a better life. In the US recently hurricane Helene wreacked havoc last week, and in response, Elon told StarLink to roll out a software update so they could enable StarLink terminals in disaster areas even if their subscription is not paid. Talk about doing more than FEMA, which has been actively working against individuals trying to get help to their fellow countrymen!
